The major of mechanical engineering & automation is a comprehensive and applicable discipline that is involved in such areas as mechanical, electronic, computer and information engineering. It is featured with incorporation of mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as manufacturing and information technologies. In addition, computer application is stressed for this major. According to the requirements of capital city and light industry development for mechanical talents, the major has been exploring actively new teaching system where distinctive specialty course modules have been formed – mechanical manufacturing & automation, mechanical design & automation, food machinery, mechanical electronic engineering, and automobile electronic engineering. For all these specialty course modules, teaching contents are new and experimental equipments are advanced. 2．Major of Polymer Materials & Engineering
The major of polymer materials & engineering is a distinctive major in Beijing city. It was founded on the basis of “Institute of Light Industry Plastics Production and Application”, and is operated by the mode of incorporation of industry, teaching and research with the aid of the institute’s strong professional background. The system has the optimal configuration for human resource and facilities, and teaching, research and industry have been connected more closely, which make the practical projects of the polymer materials & engineering major more distinctive in the same kinds of majors all over the country. With development for many years, two different curriculum modules – polymer materials process and computer aided mold design have been formed for this major. It also means the operational activities where certain technical methods are applied during the use of containers, materials and auxiliary things for the purpose mentioned above. Packaging engineering means all kinds of technical activities people perform to implement main packaging functions within the limitation of social, economic, resource and time factors through application of packaging knowledge. China is an important packaging country in the world, and the major of packaging engineering can meet the needs of national especially capital economic and social development.
