Yun-xuan WENG is an professor at the School of Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering at Beijing Technology & Business University. He obtained his P.h.D degree on the major of Polymer Chemistry and Physics at Sichuan University. The essential part of his research work comprises polymer ageing, resistance to chemical and environmental degradation, biodegradable and biobased polymeric materials. He has lectured for undergraduates since 2002, in charge of the courses on technical standards and control of plastics quality.
He acts as secretary-general of the Degradable Plastic Committee of CPPIA of China, and also as secretary-general of the Technology Committee of Standardization of Biobased and Degradable Materials. The work mainly engages processing, standardisation, testing tasks such as convenor for the National Standardisation Committee for Environmental Plastics, which is Chinese delegate in ISO TC 61.
He organized to formulate a number of national standards for food direct contact packaging materials, such as plastic wrap, plastic shopping bags, continuous roll bags, disposable tableware and other national standards. He promoted the establishment of the standard of bio-based materials and biodegradable plastics industry standard system and promoted the production and application of industrial scale. The technical cooperation on the production of biodegradable plastic film bag and tableware and other products has been carried out with a number of production enterprises.
He has organized 8 times international conference on the technology and application of biodegradable materials in China with international partners such as BPI, JBPA, KBPA, etc.
He preside some research projects at both natiaonal level (such as The National Science Fundation of China and National High Technology Research and Development Program of China, 863 Program) and provincial level. He took charge of formulating of several standards such as GB/T 21661 “plastic shopping bags”、GB 18006.1、GB/T 16288 marking of plastics、GB/T19276.1、GB/T 19276.2、GB/T 19277、GB/T 19811、GB/T 20197, GB 21660 and so on. One of his monograph is “biobased and biodegradable plastics”.
